Hmm, it is kind of hard to say. I think they have a HUGE hurdle to overcome being so late to the market. It is very hard to pull people away from a technology unless you are offering something far superior. I haven't seen anything in Windows Phone 7 series that is far superior so far.

I am not too excited about having 3 completely separate development environments to develop mobile applications for.

Windows mobile has such a bad reputation right now, that it is going to me extremely difficult to get that bad taste out of people's mouths.
As far as debating whether or not to make the jump. I am not sure the first version of Windows Mobile 7 Series phones will be the ones to use. There are some pretty good android phones out there right now, or the new iPhone is coming out pretty soon also.

With that said, do you think Windows Phone 7 series is going to have any legs? I played with an early prototype yesterday at a 2010 Launch highlight event. The phone had no connectivity and most of the apps were non-functional, but I like the fluidity of the navigation through the phone. It will be interesting to see what Silverlight and XNA devs come up with.

I am still using an HTC touch on Winmobile 6.1 and I agree it gets more use as a regular phone than anything else. I am just debating on making the jump now to Android or wait until win phone 7.
