The Best Monitor I've Ever Owned
I wasn't quite sure I'd like the curved screen, but it took me almost no time to get used to it. Now when I use my laptop or someone else's computer, I feel like I'm missing out. I use the monitor mostly for photo editing mostly with Lightroom and a little with Photoshop. The extra real estate makes a big difference and the color rendition is very good. Straight out of the box it was nearly perfectly calibrated. It may very well have been correctly calibrated in the factory, but my calibration tool (Datacolor Spyder4) takes into account the ambient light of the room and adjusts it accordingly. It shows more than 100% of sRGB, and 79% of the AdobeRGB missing only a little of the green portion of the spectrum (blue and red are covered completely). I've attached a picture of the graph. I use is secondarily for gaming. Coming from a 1080p monitor, there are a lot more pixels to render. I have a GeForce GTX760 that does just ok. I have to lower the rendering quality of the games at full resolution. Also, just to be aware, this monitor is 60hz, so there is no reason to run games above 60 fps. Lastly, while I'm on this note, it uses FreeSync for games to match the frame rate and refresh rate. FreeSync is compatible with AMD's Radeon GPU's and NOT with Nvidia GeForce GPU's. Just to be clear, the monitor will run with an Nvidia GPU (that's what I'm using right now), it's just the FreeSync capability that won't be utilized. That may or may not be very important to you. I never used the stand that came with it. It looks to be a decent stand, but I preferred to mount it directly to the wall to free up the desk space under the monitor. You can see the attached picture. The only gripe that I have is with their software. There is an included program that allows you to have various options for how open windows will snap to a selected layout. I typically use one that splits the screen with one window being about 2/3 the width and the other being about 1/3. There's about 12 different options for layouts, but the one thing I wish I could do would be to have a hot key that I could hold down and have the window ignore the layout. I used to like being able to have my calculator out on top of a window and size it and position it where ever I would like. With their software, that's not possible. When I use the calculator it's huge because the program snaps it to the layout. This is such a small inconvenience that I didn't take off any stars for it. In the end this monitor has exceeded my expectations for it and is the best monitor I've ever owned.

To start off I originally bought the 34um68. I had it on my desk for about 3 days before I sent it back. I thought that it would be better because I could run higher frames but truth be told the pixel density was abysmal. I went for this monitor because it has my entire wishlist,
      - LG brand 34” ultrawide
      - 75fps (with freesync enabled)
      - 1440p vertical resolution
      - CURVED (sooo good)
I have been in love with this monitor from first sight, it is basically the 34uc98, which is the newest LG UW panel but this one is cheaper because it doesn't have thunderbolt. Games look amazing on here. The picture quality is great, though I didn't notice that the color was somehow off until I put it next to my asus pg258q (which is a GREAT 2k panel) that I have running in its sRGB mode. I played around with settings a bit and ended up putting mine on the photo preset, I lowered the brightness, raised the contrast and sharpness, but it still looked off.... So i opened up the nvidia control panel and found a kittle gem called “digital vibrance”, I put this up to 70% and voilà it looks simply gorgeous. While there I also overclocked the refreshrate to 80hz. So I will say there was a fair bit of tinkering needed with mine but it could have been avoided entirely with a simple color calibrator that I can't afford.
The LG osc software is awesome, my only complaint is that it doesn't work with my asus monitor as well. I did not expect the speakers to be this good but they are REALLY good, granted they are nothing like a good soundbar but they are still far better than any built ins that I have ever seen. The stand is great and VERY sturdy, I'm still not sold on the big curved base but I will be getting a monitor arm soon so it doesn't matter. One of the few complaints I have with this monitor is the damn glossy backing, I wish companies would stop using them they look awful and the only thing they pick up better than finger prints is dust.
In conclusion I highly recommend this monitor, everything I put on it looks gorgeous. I will be holding onto this monitor for a long time. My next wishlist for a monitor will be tougher to meet so I thin I will have time.
I love the 34uc88 monitor by LG, however I have some improvements,
      1 OLED!!!!!
      2 non glossy back panel
      3 75-100hz g-sync
4 square monitor stand (like the lg 34uc87)
      Sincerely, Christian.

UPDATE 6 years later: I STILL HAVE THIS MONITOR and I still refuse to get rid of it. I love it but I have finally found the monitor from my wishlist. The Alienware AW3423DW meets my requirements to finally replace this thing. Can’t wait to keep using this monitor for 6 more years!

Just below 4K class, but still good optics. The extra wide screen can be a hinderance on most websites as there is a lot of wasted space. Great views for gaming, though !!

Love this monitor. The curve takes a little getting use to when not gaming but it's amazing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love the monitor ... but terrible customer service from LG

its great and why did I wait so long get this? the only complaint is the stand, it curves towards you and interferes with the keyboard... dumb design but other than that terrific... i did contact their customer service with a question... they were very rude, gave me no answer, he said just return it to Amazon? Wow!!! Well I figured out how to stop the onscreen messages and didn't return it, I wish LG investigate that call centre and the horrible customer service

The size and the curve are fantastic for productivity. Beautiful image!
