My Big Toe: A Trilogy Unifying Philosophy, Physics, and Metaphysics: Awakening, Discovery, Inner Workings Paperback – March 19, 2003
Purchase options and add-ons
If you have a logical, open and inquisitive mind – an attitude of scientific pragmatism that appreciates the elegance of fundamental truth and the thrill of breakthrough – you will enjoy this journey of personal and scientific discovery.
This trilogy delivers the next major scientific conceptual breakthrough since relativity and quantum mechanics raised scientific eyebrows in the first half of the twentieth century. No catch, no megalomania, no hypothetical wackiness, no goofy believe, no unusual assumptions – just straight forward science that better describes the totality of our experience and provides a wealth of practical results and new understanding that can be applied personally and professionally by scientists and nonscientists alike. This is the real thing.
This Volume includes:
Book 1: Awakening – Section 1 provides a partial biography of the author that is pertinent to the subsequent creation of this trilogy. This brief look at the author's unique experience and credentials sheds some light upon the origins of this highly unusual work. Section 2 lays out and defines the basic conceptual building blocks needed to construct My Big TOE's conceptual foundation. It discusses the cultural beliefs that trap our thinking into a narrow and limited conceptualization of reality, defines the basics of Big Picture epistemology and ontology; logically infers the nature of time, space, and consciousness as well as describes the basic properties, purpose, and mechanics of our reality. Many of the concepts initiated in Section 2 are more fully explained in Book 2.
Book 2: Discovery – Section 3 develops the interface and interaction between we the people and our digital consciousness reality. It derives and explains the characteristics, origins, dynamics, and function of ego, love, and free will. It derives our larger purpose. Finally, Section 3 develops the psi uncertainty principle as it explains and interrelates psi phenomena, free will, love, consciousness evolution, reality, human purpose, entropy and physics. Section 4 lays out an operational and functional model of consciousness that further develops the results of Section 3 and supports the conclusions of Section 5. The origins and nature of digital consciousness are described. Our physical universe, our science, and our perception of a physical reality are logically derived. The mind-matter dichotomy is solved as physical reality is directly derived from the nature of digital consciousness.
Book 3: Inner Workings – Section 5 presents the formal reality model in detail. In this section the mechanics of reality are explained. You will find out how the past present and future are formed, how they can be altered, and how you interact with the larger reality as an individuated unit of consciousness. Here you will find an explanation of inter and intra dimensional awareness and the theoretical possibilities of teleportation, time travel as a few of the more fun ramifications of this reality model are probed. Section 6 provides the wrap-up that puts everything discussed into an easily understood perspective. Additionally, Section 6 points out My Big TOE's relationship with contemporary science and philosophy. By demonstrating a close conceptual relationship between this TOE and some of the establishment's biggest scientific and philosophic intellectual guns, Section 6 integrates My Big TOE into traditional Western science and philosophy.

About the author

Thomas Campbell, a lifelong professional applied physicist, began a parallel career in the early 1970s researching altered states of consciousness with Bob Monroe at Monroe Laboratories in the early 1970s where he and a few others were instrumental in getting Monroe's laboratory for the study of consciousness up and running. Campbell continued his research into the nature of consciousness and reality and in February of 2003, published the My Big TOE trilogy (MBT) which represents the results and conclusions of over 30 years of scientific exploration into the nature of existence.

MORE INFO:
Thomas Campbell began researching altered states of consciousness with Bob Monroe (Journeys out Of the Body, Far Journeys, and The Ultimate Journey) at Monroe Laboratories in the early 1970s where he and a few others were instrumental in getting Monroe's laboratory for the study of consciousness up and running. These early drug-free consciousness pioneers helped design experiments, developed the technology for creating specific altered states, and were the main subjects of study (guinea pigs) all at the same time. Tom is the "TC (physicist)" described in Bob Monroe's second book Far Journeys.
Campbell has been a serious explorer of the frontiers of reality, mind, consciousness, and psychic phenomena for the last forty years. Using his acquired mastery of the Out Of Body Experience as a research tool, Campbell focused his work toward discovering the outer boundaries, inner workings, and causal dynamics of the larger reality system. The result of this research unites the worlds of objective and subjective experience under one scientific explanation, thus, achieving the goal of generating one unified, comprehensive theory of everything (TOE) that bridges metaphysics and physics with one scientific understanding.
In February of 2003, Tom published the My Big TOE trilogy (MBT) which represents the results and conclusions of his scientific exploration of the nature of existence. This overarching model of reality, mind, and consciousness explains the paranormal as well as the normal, places spirituality within a scientific context, solves a host of scientific paradoxes and provides direction for those wishing to personally experience an expanded awareness of All That Is. The MBT reality model explains metaphysics, spirituality, love, and human purpose at the most fundamental level, provides a complete theory of consciousness, and solves the outstanding fundamental physics problems of our time, deriving both relativity theory and quantum mechanics from first principles – something traditional physics cannot yet do. As a logic-based work of science, My Big TOE has no basis in belief, dogma, or any unusual assumptions.
In the Fall of 2016, Tom presented a set of quantum physics experiments designed to provide evidence for or against the hypothesis that our reality is information based – or, in other words, that we are living in [that our so-called physical matter reality (PMR) is] a computed virtual reality. In the process of accomplishing that, these experiments are also designed to explore, and perhaps clearly resolve, significant conflicts between five competing perspectives of the underlying fundamental nature of quantum physics: 1) Copenhagen, 2) QBism, 3) Digital Physics, 4) Many Worlds, and 5) current standard QM theory. They may also shed some definitive light on the alleged connection between observers, consciousness, and quantum mechanics (QM).
In the spring of 2017, these experiments were described in a paper, entitled: On Testing the Simulation Theory which was subsequently published in a peer reviewed scientific journal: International Journal of Quantum Foundations on June 17, 2017. Volume 3, Issue 3, pages 78-99
Currently these experiments are being performed at the California Polytechnical university. First Results are expected in late 2023 or early 2024.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2012It took me about three months to read this book. Never have I been so challenged by a piece of literature. It made Atlas Shrugged look like Green Eggs and Ham. I would like to say that this is the best book I have ever read, but it is not really a book. Its an obese essay. Without hesitation I can say that this collection of words has altered the course of my life.
However, for everyone who is looking at reading this book and is dissuaded by the "phenomenal" side of it (OBE, Remote Viewing, the list goes on) This review is for you. What I took away from this book was a scientific process of looking at life. Right from the get-go, Thomas necessitates a skeptical attitude not only about the theories in his book but about life. He urges the reader to approach all things with an open mind and skeptical attitude.
I have slowly been integrating this approach to life into my daily practices and WOW! The influence that people exert on me is dropping away. When I accept something that someone says based on no evidence apart from their saying so, I feel like I lose a small part of myself to their persona. Increasingly I find myself questioning other peoples words and asking myself how I really feel about the subject.
I love to write and could go into much greater detail but having read through most of the reviews here I think the book has been well covered. My point is this; even if you are dissuaded by the "fantastic" nature of this book, you ABSOLUTELY should read it anyways. It will broaden your perspective and solidify your mind. I have many years of ahead of me to figure out the validity of Thomas's theory of everything, but I can tell you he has set me on the right track. I am *slowly* figuring out how to look for answers and find as close to the real answer as is possible.
Closing, I would urge persevere. Do not give up on this book. As I mentioned earlier it took me three months barrel through this doorstop. There were certainly points where I put the book down for a while or only read a page or two a day, but in the end it was well worth it.
Knowledge is power, this book will help you find the knowledge.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2021It's a bit repetitive but thats just because Campbell really wants to clarify these somewhat complex ideas. Overall, this is a brilliant read that changed the way I look at the universe and exsistence. I can't say wether his metaphysics are actually real (as I have not had an out of body experience), however, even if oobe's aren't real, the concept of other realities is very beneficial to entertain as a thought experiment which can yield a substantial amount of consciousness expansion. If you are really, really serious about reading this book, I recommend first reading "journeys beyond the body" by Robert Monroe (Campbells research partner) or "adventures beyond the body" by William Buhlman (my recommendation as William is a better author than Monroe) simply because these books give a good foundation on "non-physical realities"/one's which will definitely aid in reading and comprehending Campbells Big TOE trilogy. As a bonus rabbit hole to go down, check out the declassified CIA document "analysis and assessment of the gateway process" (found on the CIA's freedom of information act webpage) which involved substantial research into Robert Monroes research (and thus, we can presume Campbells research seeing as how they were partners). In the document the CIA/army intelligence validate monroes research on out of body experiences and claim that they need to make a new foundation for physics before they share their findings with the world. Although I can't say anything for certain, all evidence and reason would indicate that Campbells Big TOE trilogy is that new foundation for physics that they were looking for/working on. I plug this bonus rabbit hole just because I am highly skeptical of monroe and Campbells research and having the CIA/army intelligence validate their work is a rather compelling piece of evidence that gives me hope that their is more to this exsistence then what the eyes can see. All in all, this book is a philosophical gold mine that has taken a numbskull like me from being curious about exsistence and mysticism all the way to the abyss of philosophical absurdism. This book isn't for everyone but if you are reading this review, there's probably a good chance that it's right up your alley and I highly recommend pulling the trigger and giving it a try. Just remember to take it slow and really digest the information while being open minded and skeptical.

5.0 out of 5 stars A complex book.
I have finished reading this 800 pages monster of a book. T. Campbell takes the notion of Shiv, Shakti, and Nara, or Bhraman, Aatma, and Jeev, and creates a whole new system without any reference to anything that was written before. In that sense it was very refreshing. He wants the reader to be skeptic at all times. Highly recommended for readers who are familiar with the topic of consciousness and gyaan. I wish that he would have condensed the book to half of its size, but I think that he did that willingly to submerge the reader into gyaan. I am not sure yet if he wrote this book for beginner or advanced yogis. Enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good read for Engineers and Scientists - May change your perspective and make you question much more in this world.
Good read. I stumbled (not so sure it was a stumble) upon the Monroe Institute explorer series of recordings. At first I thought they were a bunch of nut jobs or con-artists, one of their regulars was a physicist only identified as TC. After more research and giving their meditations a try, I discovered that there was much more in this world that I was not able to perceive. I was delighted to find that TC wrote this book. He does a good job of presenting the material but seems to be repetitive at times and I just wish he would get to the point. Unfortunately I think the repetition is necessary for those who are oblivious or resistant to what Tom is trying to present, to most it may seem way..way..way out there. I’m not sure if he does a good job of connecting the dots or not as I had the dots more or less connected before reading this book, he is simply one more confirmation of my thoughts. It’s nice to know there is someone much smarter than me who is coming to similar conclusions about reality and consciousness. I’m not sure a die-hard skeptic would take the time to read this trilogy. It should be manditory reading for Engineering and science students... gives good insight into human behavior/nature , especially into beliefs, pseudo-knowledge and real knowledge and how we are so culturally conditioned to limit out thinking and vision.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this book if you truly want to find purpose for life here right now and also understand the BIG PICTURE
This book is absolutely fantastic for many reasons. It delivers a framework for the comprehension of the larger consciousness system as well as fleshing out why we are here and the context of our existence as seen from a much larger perspective. The book is tedious at times and can be very repetitive indeed but we must understand that it is written for the mass audience, both right minded and left minded people, people with a deep understanding of quantum physics and people without. People often question Campbell for not including specific details about NPMR, such as entities encountered etc. The reason being that Campbell does not want to pollute and prejudice the experience for people that learn to access NPMR. If you want to read descriptions that are entertaining and of mild importance to you and your quality of consciousness etc then read the likes of Monroe, Buhlman's and many more authors fabulous books, they'll describe the astral in great detail and help you get there for sure but the astral is but the astral, and as vast as that is it's a sub-set of the LCS. This book however really gives one a sense of why we are here, how our reality is seen from the larger perspective, how we can lower our entropy ( raise our spirituality) and the notable effects this has here and now in the physical reality, how meditation is a tool to access NPMR and indeed improve your quality of awareness in general, how ego and fear are the cause of most of our suffering and how to deal with those, and much much more.
To conclude this rather lengthy post I must say this much, the book needs to be read fully and perhaps twice or three times to really get fantastic value out of it. Campbell advocates twice daily meditation of 20 minutes at least and this is extremely beneficial. Readers need to be patient, the book is written for a mass audience of varying backgrounds and as such it must be palatable for a seriously wide variety of minds. The book needs to be read at a pace that's comfortable, you must not rush it. This book has been assaulted by some of the finest minds in the world for the past 10 years now and so far its holding watertight. The theory is based on only two assumptions; 1, consciousness is fundamental to reality and 2, evolution is a fact.
This book is far ahead of it's time and anybody that reads it, gets it and becomes a part of its application will benefit beyond their wildest dreams. It's benefit for us here and now, in this reality ( totally aside from adventures into the non-physical) is immensely important.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book will profoundly change you ❤️
You may want to start with watching Tom present an overview of the MBT before diving deep into every concept
