The WikiLeaks Files: The World According to US Empire Paperback – September 20, 2016
WikiLeaks came to prominence in 2010 with the release of 251,287 top-secret State Department cables, which revealed to the world what the US government really thinks about national leaders, friendly dictators, and supposed allies. It brought to the surface the dark truths of crimes committed in our name: human rights violations, covert operations, and cover-ups.
The WikiLeaks Files exposes the machinations of the United States as it imposes a new form of imperialism on the world, one founded on tactics from torture to military action, to trade deals and “soft power,” in the perpetual pursuit of expanding influence. The book also includes an introduction by Julian Assange examining the ongoing debates about freedom of information, international surveillance, and justice.
An introduction by Julian Assange—writing on the subject for the first time—exposes the ongoing debates about freedom of information, international surveillance, and justice.
With contributions by Dan Beeton, Phyllis Bennis, Michael Busch, Peter Certo, Conn Hallinan, Sarah Harrison, Richard Heydarian, Dahr Jamail, Jake Johnston, Alexander Main, Robert Naiman, Francis Njubi Nesbitt, Linda Pearson, Gareth Porter, Tim Shorrock, Russ Wellen, and Stephen Zunes.

Review
—Edward J. Snowden, July 2015
“A deep dive into what the cables reveal about America’s dealings with a variety of states. It will be left to other books to argue whether WikiLeaks is right or wrong in their mission and approach. This one gives solid context to the cables themselves, explaining what they mean to the wider world.”
—Kirkus Reviews
“Takes on a huge amount of data and delivers a thorough introduction to the narratives of US policy that the cables reveal [and] … makes the information in the cables accessible to a wide audience of readers who may not otherwise have the time or background knowledge to search through the data themselves.”
—Publishers Weekly
“Provides accessible insight into nearly every major news topic of today.”
—Portland Press Herald
“From government to big business, if you have a dirty secret, WikiLeaks is your nightmare.”
—Guardian
“I’ve heard the impact of these releases on our foreign policy described as a meltdown, as a game-changer and so on ... Is this embarrassing? Yes. Is it awkward? Yes.”
—Bob Gates, US Secretary of Defense, 2010
“The guy ought to be ... and I’m not for the death penalty, so if I’m not for the death penalty, there’s only one way to do it: illegally shoot the son of a bitch.”
—Bob Beckel, Fox News
“The whole weighty book is a missile aimed at breaking the plate glass of US diplomacy and revealing its motivations.”
—Sydney Morning Herald

- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2015The nature of US power, as the US government never wanted you to see. This is essential reading for those interested in the expression of unrivalled power as the US pushes for the ultimate expansion of its worldwide empire. This is the book necessitated by the media's neglect of the message, as it focuses still on the messenger. The message this book contains is a warning to the world.
The WikiLeaks Files: The World According to US Empire
- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2017This is a carefully thought-out scholarly work. It provides a rare glimpse of the actual realities of the Empire. More importantly, it arms the readers with the ammunitions to confront the Empire and to transform the world. I pay special tribute to the authors for their restraint and objectivity in analyzing the files. I wish more and more people throughout the world would have the opportunity to read this book. The book should be translated in all major languages of the world.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2016This book is quite a thorough eye-opener on geopolitics. I have not been a believer in the US Mainstream Media for some time, but we all need alternative sources. This is a fairly comprehensive look at the relationship between the US and a number of other countries in recent years. Chapter by chapter, WikiLeaks source info combined with expert analysis provides real insight into actual US Policy and activities relating to all of these foreign countries, in contrast to the jive normally presented to the American public by the Mainstream Media.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read!
Well, most people in the world already know all this information. It's America and it's white allies that are so brainwashed that needs wikileaks to unbrainwash themselves because their mainstream media has them completely brain-dead that they cannot even put 2 and 2 together to make 4. It's like their corporations have them blindfolded and can shove them in any direction against anyone who has resources, particularly oil. I say buy this book in bulk and give it to them whenever they start repeating their media propaganda. They definitely need some real education.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wie das Imperium arbeitet

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes you realise how little the U.S cares about freedom
The book goes through some key cases where the U.S has meddled in other country's affairs. U.S foreign policy operates on a spectrum of chaos making, from lightly selling dodgy GMOs to European allies, to setting up torture camps next to battlefields (Abu Ghraib). Each author of each chapter uses the WikiLeaks files to evidence the U.S's dislike for countries not doing it's bidding.
The book as a whole shatters the idea that the U.S promotes freedom across the world. The parts on Latin America are the most damning of how the U.S behaves to countries who are supposed to be their neighbours.
Thoroughly recommend reading this if you're into reading about Foreign Policy and International Politics
